Why students in Amman come to one-to-one lessons

Amman has an unusually strong set of American-curriculum and IB schools for a city its size: the American Community School, King's Academy in Madaba, the International Academy Amman, the Amman Baccalaureate School, the Modern American School and others, several of them founded specifically to send students to universities in the United States. The SAT is part of the furniture at these schools in a way it is not in most of the region.

It is also used closer to home. A number of universities in Jordan, Lebanon and the wider region, the American University of Beirut among the best known, use the SAT in admissions, so a strong score keeps open options that never involve leaving the Middle East. That means an Amman student is often preparing for two different deadlines and two different score targets at once, and a generic course calendar serves neither.

Jordan has kept UTC+3 all year since 2022 and no longer changes clocks; the UK moves between GMT and British Summer Time in late March and late October, so the UK-side time shifts by an hour twice a year while your lesson time stays put.

What is specific to Amman

Jordan is on UTC+3 all year, two hours ahead of the UK in summer and three in winter. A 6.00pm lesson in Amman is mid-afternoon in London, so evening slots are easy to hold weekly.
Two application routes, one plan. Where a student is applying both to the US and to a regional university that uses the SAT, the sittings are chosen to serve the earlier deadline with a resit in hand for the later one.
Tawjihi, IB and AP students arrive with different gaps, and the first lessons are spent finding out which are yours rather than assuming a curriculum.
