Why students in Kuwait City come to one-to-one lessons
Kuwait is one of the few places where the SAT is not only an admissions test. A large share of Kuwaiti students who study abroad do so on a government scholarship, and the scholarship bodies set minimum SAT scores for eligibility and for particular destinations. That turns the score into a gate rather than a tiebreaker: a student can have everything else in place and be a few dozen points short of the line.
The schools reflect the same orientation. Kuwait's American-curriculum schools, among them the American School of Kuwait, the American International School, the American Academy and the Universal American School, have sent students to the United States for decades, and the British and IB schools alongside them send a growing number. What most of those students meet locally is group preparation built around the same shortcut material, taught to a room at very different scores.
One-to-one lessons are built around a specific target: the threshold for the scholarship, the range for the university, and the sitting that gets there with a resit in hand.

The UK moves between GMT and British Summer Time in late March and late October; Kuwait does not change clocks, so the UK-side time shifts by an hour twice a year while your lesson time stays put.
What is specific to Kuwait City
- Kuwait is on UTC+3, two hours ahead of the UK in summer and three in winter. A 6.00pm lesson in Kuwait City is mid-afternoon in London, so evening slots are straightforward to hold every week.
- Scholarship thresholds are treated as the target when there is one. The plan is built backwards from the score the scholarship body requires and the date it must be submitted by.
- The school week runs Sunday to Thursday, so lesson slots follow that pattern, and Friday or Saturday sessions are often the easiest fit for students carrying a full timetable.
- Test centre seats in Kuwait are limited and the popular sittings fill early. Register as soon as the date is chosen: deadlines are in the test date table.
- Billed in pounds sterling by card link or bank transfer, after each lesson. Fees are on the fee sheet; the intro call and the trial lesson are free.
